English Focus

English Focus

Our English Focus course provides you with the tools you need to be a better communicator in English. For you that might mean that you can speak to your British friends easier, or watch a tv show in English without subtitles, or it could mean that you can speak with customers or clients at work more professionally. Those studying on one of our English Focus programmes will develop knowledge and accuracy but will also focus on the core language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Sessions of the day

Morning Discussion Session
This is a teacher-led discussion, usually around news, current affairs or other interesting topics. It is a great warm up to start the day and helps learners to be more productive during the rest of their classes.

Vocabulary Focus and Practice
To develop your vocabulary and learn key phrases for use in a range of situations. Also to understand different registers and be able to express yourself correctly in both formal and informal settings.

Language Focus and Language Practice
To understand and use more complex structures. Confidence is developed as your accuracy and fluency improves. Lessons are designed to allow students to use the language and give them opportunities to put their knowledge into practice.

Reading, Writing and Listening Skills
Through a variety of tasks involving such exercises as letter writing, email correspondence and creative writing you increase your abilities to understand language, form, purpose and how to use appropriate language. Your listening and reading skills develop as you learn to listen and read for a purpose as well as skills such as scanning and summarising. This class incorporates examples of natural pronunciation and authentic materials to promote communication and discussion as in real life.

Spoken Performance Workshop
Students are able to develop both speaking skills and non verbal forms of communication as well as using body language and gestures for effective communication. Students focus on developing confidence and increasing interpersonal skills to help them become more natural and persuasive communicators.
