CELTA Enrolment Terms and Conditions

If your application is successful, you will be interviewed (in person or by phone). If you are offered a place after the interview, and you accept a place on our Cambridge CELTA course, you will need to understand and agree to the conditions of acceptance:

  • The course is devised and delivered according to Cambridge ESOL requirements.
  • It is a practical course which requires full participation.
  • Teaching practice, observation and group feedback are integral to the course.
  • Assessment is carried out by tutors and is externally moderated.
  • You are required to attend 100% unless you are ill.
  • It is a very intensive course – it requires a great deal of time outside course hours.
  • Any other commitments must be kept to a minimum.
  • You are expected to behave in a professionally responsible manner.
  • Acceptance onto the course does not guarantee a pass.
  • You are required to complete the pre-course tasks and reading before the start of the course.

CELTA Payment

You need to pay a £300 non-refundable deposit to secure your place on the course. This should be paid no later then 1 week after you have been offered a place. Failure to pay the deposit within 1 week may result in your place being offered to another candidate.

You will be invoiced for the remainder of the fees approximately 4–6 weeks before the start of the course, and a date will be clearly given for payment. Failure to pay the fees in full by the due date may result in your place being offered to another candidate. Please direct any enquiries about payment to Marjorie Howie or info@basilpaterson.co.uk

CELTA Deferral

Should you decide to defer your place to a later course, you will incur an administration fee of £50. You must let us know at least 2 weeks before the start date of the course for which you originally applied. Failure to give this notice will result in the loss of your deposit. You may only defer on up to 2 occasions.

CELTA Withdrawal

Should you withdraw before the start of the course, fees paid can only be refunded (less the deposit/enrolment fee of £300) if a replacement is found. We do not usually accept candidates less than two weeks before the start date. No fees will be reimbursed should you decide to withdraw after the course has started.

CELTA Accommodation

If you withdraw from the course having booked accommodation you will be liable for two weeks' accommodation fees. If you give two weeks' notice before the start of the course, no charge will be made for accommodation.
