Cambridge ESOL Examinations

Who are they for?

 

The University of Cambridge FCE, CAE, and CPE exams offer an important English language qualification for life. These are the only exams to be directly tied to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and because they are recognised by employers around the world, a Cambridge ESOL qualification is the perfect addition to any CV. We also offer a range of Cambridge Preparation courses.

 

Which exam should I take?

 

 KET    
 Pre-Intermediate  Shows you can use everyday/written English at a basic level
 PET  Intermediate  Practice English for everyday work, study and leisure situations
 FCE  Upper-Intermediate     
 Ideal for work and study purposes
 CAE  Advanced  Use written and spoken English professionally/socially

Cambridge exam dates & prices

 

Basil Paterson has three main Cambridge ESOL examination sessions per year: one in March, one in June, and one in December. The dates listed below are subject to change, and applications that are received after the final entry date will be subject to a £20 late fee.

Please note:

 

  • Fees for December dates are different to the above - please contact us for more info.
  • A late fee of £20 will occur for anybody who misses the final entry date.
  • Speaking tests will be confirmed at a later date, but are usually the Saturday before the written test. You must be available to sit the test on both days.
  • You must bring a valid form of identification with you on the day of your exam.

 

 

How to apply

 

  • Download an application form
  • Post it to the College along with a cheque (payable to Basil Paterson College)
  • Alternatively, to pay by debit/credit card, fill out this form and post it with your application.
  • You can also pay at the school reception (Mon to Fri 9.00-5.00)
  • DO NOT SEND CASH BY POST
