Book an IELTS Examination
Basil Paterson is a large sized centre, but we are very busy therefore you must contact us before applying for a test date to ensure there are places available. Please refer to www.ielts.org for details of other centres.
We should also warn you that your interview may not be on the same day as the written papers. However, if you live outside of Edinburgh, we will do our best to arrange your interview on the same day.
We recommend you download the application form and post it to us. Your application form must be fully complete and include:
- your passport number
- two passport-sized photographs
- a photocopy of your identification document
- your signature on page 4
Incomplete applications will not be accepted and will be returned.
If you wish to enrol for the exam, you should return the enrolment form with a cheque (made payable to Basil Paterson College) or postal order for £100. If paying by credit card, please write card details (card number and expiry date) on the top of the form above the photograph. Payment by cash is only accepted at our school reception on Mondays to Fridays 9.00-5.00. DO NOT SEND CASH IN THE POST.
Candidates results will be produced 13 days after the exam date.

Copies of the IELTS Official Practice Materials with CD and sample answers are available for £9 plus postage (United Kingdom add £2, overseas add £5). Please send a cheque made payable to Basil Paterson College if you require the materials.
We can transfer candidates up to 5 weeks before their original test date. This incurs a £20.00 administration fee.
There are no full refunds given. All cancellations will incur a £20 administration fee which will be deducted from your refund. For cancellations less than 5 weeks from the exam date, there is no refund.
Your valid identification document must be available for checking on the day of your examination.
