Welcome to the Basil Paterson College Examination Centre. We are an officially recognised testing centre for the IELTS Examination and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
IELTS
We hold IELTS tests approximately once a month, but more frequently during the busy summer period. The IELTS Examination is taken by candidates primarily for professional registration, in order to study at university and for immigration purposes. These tests are very popular and booking in advance is necessary. Please look at the Book an IELTS Exam section for further information on dates, fees and how to book.
It is also possible to take an IELTS exam in Aberdeen at the University of Aberdeen. If you would like to take an exam there, please send your application form and payment to Basil Paterson College in Edinburgh, and we will organise the test for you. Cambridge Mainsuite
We have three Cambridge Mainsuite Examination sessions each year. This includes KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE examinations. They are in March, June and December. They are taken to assess a candidates competency at English and are the only certified exams linked to the Common European Framework for Modern Languages.
